“…The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, under the direction of its founder Oksana Lyniv, impressed with its music and profound message at the Kronberg Casals Forum.
Oksana Lyniv compared the piece, with which she and the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine opened their concert at the Kronberg Casals Forum, to Samuel Barber’s popular Adagio for Strings.
“Maria’s City”, as composer Zoltan Almashi named his string piece, refers to the city of Mariupol, which suffered greatly during the russian aggression. Grief, aggression, hope: these were expressed in the musically rich sequence, reflecting the experiences of war in the sharply dissonant middle part, yet also conveying a quiet confidence that the 14-22-year-old members of the youth orchestra can feel when they make music together.”
