About Music for future: Ukraine. Slovenia. Europe

The war in Ukraine is forcing hundreds of thousands of people to leave their homes. People are facing a humanitarian catastrophe in the middle of Europe. So far, more than one million people have fled across international borders. Most of them are children and youth.

The two youth orchestras, The Slovenian Youth Orchestra (SMO), led by Živa Ploj Peršuh who is the conductor of the Slovenian National Opera and Ballet Orchestra Ljubljana and also SMO Artistic Director, and the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YsOU), led by internationally renown conductor Oksana Lyniv, initiated a large-scale musical project.
Together with European Career Center for Artists, Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine as Ukrainian institutional partner and Slovenian Youth Orchestra we are aiming to give shelter to young musicians from all over Ukraine and give them a possibility of further creative development in European space as well as extended musical educational and creative program in partnership with renown European musical institutions.

Our goal is to allow the young Ukrainian musicians to overcome a trauma of war, use their knowledge and their love – MUSIC – to help stop the horror and, at the same time, to encourage all those who are struggling to do music again.

Through variety of creative activities: day to day music lessons with renowned tutors, instrumental master classes, leadership workshops, an orchestra academy with international conductors, chamber orchestra academy and concerts with broadcasting arises a vast MUSIC CAMP for all participants aged from 10 to 22 years old.
