ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YSOU) was founded in 2016 on the initiative of the renowned Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv. Her idea was supported by three German partner institutions: Beethovenfest Bonn, Bundesjugendorchester Deutschland, and Deutsche Welle. Then a unique project was implemented: the first performances of the newly formed Ukrainian orchestra took place jointly with the National Youth Orchestra of Germany. The debut concert of the project occurred within the framework of the international classical music festival “LvivMozArt” on the stage of the Lviv National Opera.

This landmark debut marked the beginning of an international concert tour Lviv – Kyiv – Bonn – Berlin and marked the beginning of the concert history of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YSOU).
