In July 2024, YSOU is organizing the project “YSOU Chamber Music Lab: Rebuilding Self-Strength of Ukrainian Youth.” This project is a collaboration between three cultural organizations from Ukraine, Germany, and Spain. The goal is to train young Ukrainian musicians and promote intercultural cooperation between these countries through music, while also strengthening Ukrainian culture internationally. The project also aims to raise awareness about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and promote peace through the transformative and communicative power of music, as well as facilitate the emotional and cultural rebuilding process for those affected by the war.

In the initial phase, which will take place from July 14 to 21, 2024, at the Landesmusikakademie Rheinland-Pfalz in Schloss Engers in Neuwied, Germany, the project will begin with a series of masterclasses for the musicians of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (YSOU) under the guidance of renowned European music instructors.

Additionally, a thematic music therapy workshop titled “Music as a Tool for Well-being” will be organized as part of the project.

After the activities in Germany, the project will move to the next phase in Spain in the fall of 2024.

In the musical program there are pieces by renown classical composers J.Brahms, J.Haydn, W.A.Mozart, F. Schubert, P.Hindemith etc, as well as a premiere piece by young Ukrainian composer.

The project “YSOU Chamber music lab: rebuilding self-strength of Ukrainian youth” is implemented by the NGO Cultural Platform, YSOU Foundation e.V., and CREAIO with support of IZOLYATSIA foundation, Trans Europe Halles and Malý Berlín and co-financed by the ZMINA: Rebuilding program, created with the support of the European Union under a dedicated call for proposals to support Ukrainian displaced people and the Ukrainian Cultural and Creative Sectors.

Organisational partner – Landesmusikakademie Rheinland-Pfalz.
