ABOUT THE PROJECT

February 24 marks the beginning of russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. On the first anniversary of the invasion, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra organized a partnership project as a sign of solidarity and support. For the first time, Duisburger Philharmoniker musicians performed on the same stage with young Ukrainian musicians. The concert was preceded by an intensive workshop phase where Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra musicians coached YSOU participants. The evening’s soloist was Ukrainian violinist Andrii Murza.

In addition to the German audience and official city representatives, the concert was attended by more than 300 Ukrainians, for whom this event became a touch of home.

Many thanks to Mr. Nils Szczepanski, the Lord Mayor Mr. Link and city of Duisburg for the opportunity to play in such an amazing venue – the Mercator Hall in Duisburg.
