ABOUT THE PROJECT

As part of the landmark project “Lost Childhood” in the capital of Europe – Brussels, we presented the world premiere of Evgeni Orkin’s cantata “Daddy’s Book” commissioned by conductor Oksana Lyniv specifically for this project.

The piece was created based on the texts of children’s poetry and the personal diary of the well-known Ukrainian figure, prose writer, and author of children’s poems Volodymyr Vakulenko, who was tortured and killed near Kharkiv in December 2022. The program was complemented by Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, Op. 26 performed by the young Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Udovychenko, a laureate of numerous international music competitions.

The concert was held under the patronage of Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
