ABOUT THE PROJECT

Together with soloists Andrii Murza and Aleksey Semenko under the baton of Oksana Lyniv we will perform in a concert in honor of Ukraine during the closing of the Festival on November 28 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, where all the collected funds will be fully donated to the charity fund for helping children in Ukraine.

The 2022 festival season was dedicated to the Ukrainian hero city of Odesa. In honor of this, Oksana Lyniv commissioned contemporary composer Evgeni Orkin to create a special piece — a rhapsody for two violins and orchestra. This work portrays the vibrant and colorful city while illustrating its perilous atmosphere during the full-scale war in the final section. The piece features two equal violin voices, paying homage to the world-renowned Odesa violin school, which has produced generations of outstanding violinists.

As a gesture of solidarity and part of a long-standing friendly collaboration, nine musicians from the Federal Youth Orchestra of Germany (BJO) joined the YSOU symphonic ensemble.

The project was realized with the support of the GVL-Stiftung and the Goethe-Institut.
