For the second time, exactly five years after the orchestra’s founding in 2017, we performed at one of Germany’s oldest and most prestigious music festivals – Beethovenfest Bonn.

At the festival, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 was performed by the young Ukrainian pianist Dmytro Choni. A special highlight of the concert was the world premiere of “Bucha. Lacrimosa” by contemporary Ukrainian composer Victoria Poleva, a piece reflecting the tragedy of the temporary occupation of Bucha.

As part of the project, we also visited the Beethoven Museum. During the visit, we were shown a recently discovered letter from Beethoven to his friend Heinrich von Struve, who was appointed as a diplomat to Russia: “So, you are now in that cold country where humanity is still so greatly despised. I am sure you will encounter many things there that contradict your way of thinking, your heart, and everything you feel. When will the time come when there are only HUMANS? We might see the approach of this happy moment in some places, but everywhere – we will not see this, centuries must pass for this to happen…”
