BENEFIZKONZERT FÜR DIE UKRAINE

At the start of the concert, we were delighted to perform “Kyrie” and “Gloria” from W. A. Mozart’s “Krönungsmesse” C major KV 317 with the Mainz Cathedral Boys’ Choir under the direction of Karsten Stork. The concert also featured Arnold’s Flute concerto with the wonderful soloist, Ivanna Ternay, a musician from the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, and Beethoven’s iconic 5th Symphony.

A special highlight of the program was the world premiere of the orchestral work “The Way” by composer Bohdana Frolyak, depicting the journey from darkness to the triumph of light. This piece was commissioned by Oksana Lyniv specifically for YSOU summer season.

The concert was preceded by an intensive workshop phase at the Musikakademie Rheinland-Pfalz, funded by the Ministry of Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate. The patron of the project was the Minister of Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate, Katharina Binz.

All proceeds from the concert – over 10,000 euros – were donated to Feofaniya Clinical Hospital in Kyiv.
